Is the S9 Plus worth it in 2022?

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus was one of the best smartphones on the market in 2018, but that doesn’t mean it will be the best smartphone on the market in 2022. It’s only 4 years old at this point, which means it still has plenty of life left in it, but these days we’re just seeing faster and more efficient new phones launch every six months or so. That begs the question: is the Galaxy S9 Plus worth buying in 2022? Or should you look to its successors instead? In this blog, we will look at some of its features and compare it with S9.

The S9 plus may be too Expensive.

Smartphones are never cheap, and you’ll be paying a premium to get your hands on an updated version of last year’s model. To decide if that’s a good idea, you’ll want to know whether there are features that can help you save money or time. If not, it may be better to hold off until next year’s models hit stores before buying into any updates. You could also opt for a less expensive phone with similar specs. For example, Samsung offers several other phones with top-of-the-line cameras like its Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+.

Camera

The primary selling point of this smartphone is this. The Samsung Galaxy S9 plus’s single-sensor 12MP camera is superb in every way. This smartphone now has an aperture range from f/1.5 to f/2.4, which considerably enhances its ability to shoot in low light, but it also has other features.

There has been a revision of the sensor when it comes to mode scene prediction, making it faster than previous models – no doubt inheriting technology from the professional photography products Samsung has to offer to the market – therefore, beginners can feel the benefits of the smartphone tweaking adjustments automatically to match the best conditions for the scenes they are facing.

Daylight photos can surprise us for the amount of detail they can capture; it would be far too easy to mistake them for compact camera ones if not for the EXIF data. Tones are not as vivid as we can get with the Sony Xperia XZ2, yet the work on reducing noise and aiming for higher brightness is worth mentioning.

Instead of following the uprising trend of HDR photography enhancements, Samsung has chosen to use natural-looking tones. Because of that decision, vibrancy won’t be as apparent as it is with some competitors, but it also teaches beginners when to make certain adjustments rather than relying solely on HDR effects to make their images stand out. As you may be aware, there are times when too much of a good thing is simply too much.

When it comes to the front camera, the 8MP resolution seems to be somewhat conservative given the latest releases on the market. It does handle low light fairly well, but the field of view is limited – just 80 degrees, with an f/1.7 aperture. Samsung has decided to award its users with a new panorama mode for selfies that will help us to add more people to the image.

The front camera also allows a portrait mode, blurring the background to sharpen details, something that we often do when focusing on DSLR cameras.

We Still Love the Galaxy Note 9 Today

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is still one of our favorite Android phones, even nearly two years after its release. What remains most impressive about Samsung’s big-screen flagship is its large 3,000mAh battery. Most similarly sized phones often fail to last more than a day—but with daily use and moderate screen-on time, we’ve been able to consistently get a full day of use out of our S9 plus.

Performance

The processor upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus does bring more power to this unit, but it isn’t that much of an upgrade considering what’s coming up next for the Samsung phones.

We were surprised to discover a feature that replicates the 3D Touch functionality of the iPhone for the home screen. This feature allows us to work with apps more quickly by enabling a menu when we hold down on them.Given the requirements of current apps, the 4GB of RAM you receive with this phone is more than adequate. Even for video gaming, this isn’t a console, so it’s more than fair. The keyboard can also be unreliable, especially when several apps are running in the background or after doing tasks that consume a lot of RAM (Skype video calls, WhatsApp video calls, etc.). That’s a thing to be fixed with upcoming software updates. Hope you enjoy this article and get more information about these devices; if you want any help regarding phone repairs, contact us.
